6U-10U Academy Program

GFSC is excited to announce our new Academy Program!  This initiative will begin in Fall 2017, and will provide our House players with significantly more quality touches on the ball each week in order to develop their skills and improve their level of play.  There will be no additional fee for Academy; it will be included in the cost of registration for our House/Rec program.  Though there is no additional charge to participate in this program, please be sure to register so that we can be sure to have appropriate number of coaches available for each session.

What is the Academy Program?

Under the Academy program, GFSC will offer all 6U-10U players a night of specialized soccer training in addition to their regular House practice.  At Academy, players will rotate through organized stations in order to learn the fundamentals of the game and improve their overall technique. Players will be placed in a single “pool” of participants, focusing on development of all players equally within a fun environment.  This method of developing our House players will replace our current model of sending professional coaches to our 6U-10U practices.

Why is this program beneficial?

Most of our parent volunteers who are coaching House league teams have previous coaching or playing experience, and it would be a greater benefit to our players to offer a second night of soccer training each week in addition to the regular House practice.

When is the program held?

We will offer Academy from 5:00-6:00pm for 6U-7U, and from 6:00-7:00pm for 8U-10U on Tuesday nights.

Tuesday sessions - Baron Cameron 7A and 7B:

  • Sept 5th, 12th, 19th, 26th
  • Oct 3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th
  • Rain date: Nov 7th

* Please note that there will not be a session on Oct 31st (Halloween).

Who will coach Academy?

We have identified a group of top professional youth coaches to run our Academy program.  These coaches have the training and expertise to provide our players with the most effective drills to improve their skills.  By using a group of professional coaches, we can decrease the coach-to-player ratio, and provide each player with more individual attention.

How will the regular House practices be run?

We will provide our parent volunteer coaches with a focused weekly curriculum for each age group to follow.  With a common plan in place across the club, we can all follow the same curriculum and work together as a team to develop our players.

We look forward to seeing all of our 6U-10U players this fall in the Great Falls Soccer Club Academy Program!
